JOB SUMMARY
The Shift Charge Engineer is responsible in the supervision of the plant operations and maintenance of a power plant during his shift. Oversees and supervise the work of the operating staff and trains new employees. Coordinate shift with the Operations Head in developing plans for service interruptions and equipment maintenance. Prepares daily, weekly, and monthly report of the plant. Makes a day-to-day decision within or for a group/small operation department.


THE ROLE

Key Accountabilities

  1. Plant Operation and Maintenance Management

    • Directs shift activities related to the operation of the main plant.
    • Supervises unit start-up and synchronization, shutdown and abnormality, and performance test.
    • Ensures that all operational parameters are within normal limits.
    • Responds to the findings of electrician’s daily operational inspection and provides a solution to the issue.
    • Ensures that all operational activities are in accordance with the department’s procedures, standards, and work instructions.
    • Sees to it that routine activities are carried out according to schedule and procedure.
    • Supervises auxiliary operators in the conduct of minor repair and other related activity.
    • Ensures that the main plant housekeeping standards are maintained.
    • Reviews records of auxiliary and control room logbooks and log sheets.
    • Ensures proper execution of lock out/Tag out system (LOTO).
  2. Regulatory Compliance

    • Ensures compliance to Real Time Dispatch and other grid-related regulations.
    • Ensures compliance to environmental regulations.
  3. Inventory Management

    • Ensures the availability of all resources needed for operational needs.
  4. Environmental Safety and Health Compliance

    • Ensures that Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment, and Control (HIRAC) is conducted in all planning and control-related activities.
    • Ensures compliance to environmental, health, and safety policies and procedures.
    • Ensures activities are aligned with safety and health and environmental policy.
  5. Integrated Management System (IMS) Compliance

    • Ensures the section’s compliance with IMS standard requirements.
    • Provides recommendations and develops strategies on how to improve working procedures.
  6. People Performance Management and Development

    • Provides training and guidance to shift staff to ensure they have the knowledge and skills needed to perform their duties effectively.
    • Carries out disciplinary procedures when needed.
THE INDIVIDUAL
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, preferably BS Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, or Communications Engineering.
  • Three (3) years of related experience in power plant operations especially Solar Power Plant, one (1) year of which in a supervisory role.
  • Licensed Engineer
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Good critical thinking skills
